MILAN DESIGN WEEK 2022

A curated guide featuring the exhibitions, artists, and designers we’re looking forward to seeing this year at Salone del Mobile.

Superstudio Più

Via Tortona, 27

The Superdesign Show, the event organized by Superstudio in the spaces of Superstudio Più, is ready to enliven Milan’s Tortona district also this year, on the occasion of the long-awaited Fuorisalone 2022. The new edition, under the creative direction of Gisella Borioli and the artistic direction of Giulio Cappellini, is entitled Looking Ahead. Designers and companies from all over the world have been invited to design, conceive and create, looking “beyond” things, appearances, the here and now.

1000 vases is an out-of-the-ordinary exhibition demonstrating how imagination can work endlessly on a single subject, and how beauty can take the most varied forms through different techniques and materials. 1000 VASES presents unique pieces made by hundreds of independent designers from around the world, in an extraordinary journey united by the design of a small yet fundamental object.

Award-winning design firm Karu debuts its latest limited-edition vessels. The Etérea Collection embodies the best of Italian artisanal excellence with contemporary sophistication. Masterfully crafted using ancient Etruscan techniques specific to the town of Volterra, the delicate vessels carry an ethereal yet eternal quality that transcends cultural definitions to epitomize something entirely new.  Karu is an award-winning interior design studio developing bespoke environments and objects that promote a deep sense of wellbeing. Channeling her multicultural background and broad expertise, founder Mélanie Murata deftly deciphers eternal architectural forms into harmonious spaces, furnishings, and accessories. From studios in Florence and Los Angeles, Murata and her team meticulously craft new construction, design-build, and historic renovation projects. Catering to a discerning clientele and several high-end galleries worldwide, Karu also specializes in limited edition furniture and object collections that demonstrate the same prowess and sensibilities.

GALERIE PHILIA

Via Milano, 251

Galerie Philia is proud to invite you the gallery’s next show in the upcoming Milan Design Week.

The show is entitled Temenos and will display exclusive creations commissioned from 7 contemporary designers.

Studiopepe’s first collectible design collection in collaboration with Galerie Philia will be unveiled as well as sculptural design works from Samuel Costantini, Morghen, Andrés Monnier, Jérôme Pereira, Cristián Mohaded, Pierre de Valck.

United by their common interest in anthropology and the study of artifacts from ancient cultures, Galerie Philia and Studiopepe conceptualised an immersive experience for the Temenos project. Inspired by the circular dimensions of ancient sacral monuments, such as Stonehenge and the dome of the Pantheon, a stately temple-like cylindrical structure symbolising life, nature and cosmic renewal will be installed in the centre of the exhibition space, creating a radical contrast as well as a dialogue with the surrounding industrial architecture. A synaesthetic video will be projected on the floor of a round white surface, emulating a water pond, historically used for divination.
